What Really Is a CRM?

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management, but the real value is turning scattered customer data spread across spreadsheets, inboxes, and notes into one usable system.

At its core, a CRM system makes a business more efficient by strengthening customer relationships, both the ones already in place and the new ones being built, while integrating marketing, sales, and customer service so the whole company works from the same information.

Most businesses already know their customers well, but that knowledge is scattered: spreadsheets, databases, laptops, email, paper, and people's memory. A CRM brings it into one place, which shows up as better sales, more sophisticated marketing, better forecasting, and better customer service once it's implemented correctly.
